Winter Sign Up is Here!
Written by Paul Dysinger
When snow covers the ground and temperatures dip way below freezing - what could be more exhilarating than to receive a glorious array of vibrant vegetables, picked the same day they are placed in your hands? When it comes to food, what price can you put on that kind of freshness? That's what I call exotic.
Today, the movement toward fresh, local, organic food is growing exponentially. And while it may seem that everywhere we turn the world is steadily falling apart, at the same time people are beginning to be faced with some of the fundamental realities of life. One such reality is this – food is life-giving.
Did you know that a single item of food travels an average of 1500 miles before it lands on your plate? That's a lot of miles and energy being put into your food. But more than that, people are beginning to realize that food has a very significant impact on our physical health. With an epidemic of heart disease, obesity, and diabetes sweeping across our country it is imperative that we begin choosing wise lifestyle choices. Diets high in fresh fruits and vegetables have been shown to build health and longevity, and the fresher the better.
"Degenerative diseases like heart disease, type 2 diabetes, and even several forms of cancer, could almost always be prevented – and in many cases reversed – by adopting a whole foods, plant-based diet." – the research conclusions of Dr. T. Colin Campbell and Dr. Caldwell Esselstyn as seen on the recent film Forks Over Knives.
Imagine a winter of fresh vegetables that are:
- Vibrant with color
- Rich with flavor
- Dense with nutrition
- Picked fresh! (most of them the same day)
- From a local farm
- Free from pesticides and chemicals
- Harvested with love :)
That's why our winter CSA is here.
2012 marks our 10th annual winter CSA season - following our second annual summer CSA. We love the winter garden and are blessed to provide you with the most exquisite vegetables possible.

Taking your food from the field to your fork
For the first time we have decided to offer complimentary food preparation classes to our CSA members. These classes will be held in coordination with certain CSA delivery locations and times and will incorporate ideas of how to make the veggies from your box into delicious delights for the palate. More information will be provided soon to our CSA members.
This year our share options have been revised slightly to expedite packing. Please note our new shares below:
The single share is a 2/3 bushel box of luscious vegetables. This option is great for most singles or small families who are wanting to incorporate more fresh vegetables into their diet. This is the most popular option.
The double share (two 2/3 bushel boxes of produce) is for the avid foodie families (or singles) who base most of their diet off of fresh vegetables. Just remember - it's a lot of veggies! (more than the prior full share) :)
We hope you will join our farm family this winter and enjoy the beauty that can come in the midst of cold! Here are a few testimonies from our friends:
"Hey friends! This is the farm that provides all our winter veggies. We LOVE THEM!!! If you are looking for a great place to get incredibly ethically and responsibly raised produce in nutrient dense ways.
